Life lately.

Apart from waking up with an awful cough and cold on the 1 January (and possibly a small hangover) 2014 has been off to a pretty good start. I have eased back into work and my normal routine, with my waistline thanking me for leaving the house and avoiding the chocolate stashed in the cupboards.

Last week Jonathan and I had a mini date night and went out for tea before having a stroll round Meadowhall to pick out a birthday present for his mum. I went for cocktails on Friday night with a friend from work then on Saturday Jonathan and I spent the afternoon and evening with his family to celebrate his mum's birthday. This involved lots of food and Bucks Fizz! We took dessert in the form of individual raspberry cheesecakes which Jonathan made earlier that day, served with cream and crumbled cookies on top, and they were fantastic!

Yesterday we had a really lazy day, with the exception of a walk to the duck pond with Lily and Lola. We made a big stew for lunch and mopped up the gravy with bread and butter, watched a film that was 3 hours long and almost sent me to sleep, and lounged around reading. It was pretty fabulous.

I am getting back on "it" with my workouts this week so I am going to feel back to my usual busy self, trying to fit working out, walking the dogs, cleaning, reading and piano lessons around working full time. But it beats being bored I guess!

Over the next few weeks we have plans with friends and I have a voucher for rock climbing lessons that I need to book! Then it's my birthday which will bring a weekend with my family, dinner with Jonathan at home, a night with my friend, and a weekend away with Jonathan. We're going back to Woodhall Spa as we loved it so much when we went for my birthday two years ago.

Have a great week everyone!

Sarenza sale picks.

Hi folks! Just a quick heads up to let you know there's a huge sale happening over on the Sarenza website at the moment. As one of their lucky ambassadors I thought I'd let you know!

There's up to 50% off at the moment on huge brands so go have a nosy. I have picked out a few of my favourites but it was tough to choose. I'm a fan of black or peach shoes by the look of it!

You'll have to be quick off the mark though. I had my eye on the gorgeous peach Nike trainers/pumps below and they have disappeared already!

Happy shopping...

2014 will be the year I... (plus an update on my 2013 resolutions and my favourite photos of this year).

♥ Get fitter / be more consistent with my exercise / stay at my goal weight

♥ Try Yoga or Pilates

♥ Go indoor rock climbing

♥ Try to be a better friend

♥ Comment on every blog post I read

♥ Read 52 books i.e. a book for every week of the year

♥ Get to the bottom of my acne problem and have more confidence in my appearance

(But ultimately accept that appearance is not the be all and end all!)

♥ Have more bubble baths and "me" time

♥ Relax... (yeah right! ;))

Phew! I think that's enough to be getting on with.

2013 has been kind to me. I have no complaints! The year started off with a career break and a bit of time at home making the most of being a lady of leisure. I did a bit of self employed dog walking before finding a new job in HR that I've been loving.

I've made new friends. I went to Ibiza for some sunshine and visited the Isle of Man. Jonathan and I discovered The Big Bang Theory and watched every single episode from the beginning. I changed my hair length and colour far too many times before getting it "just right".

We travelled to Anglesey for a wedding and took in the sights. We tried new restaurants and went back to some old favourites. We had nights in with friends playing board games and being silly.

I did fairly well with my 2013 resolutions. I reached my goal weight and managed to stay there until I went on holiday to Ibiza and overdid it on the breakfast buffet. I definitely saw my parents more than the previous year which has made me very happy. I also visited my sister and her hubby on the Isle of Man. Another one ticked off the list. Hurrah!

Join a club. Hmm. Does starting piano lessons count? I started lessons in December and plan to keep going with them as I am really enjoying it and seem to be progressing quite nicely!

I got loads of photos printed off and put them into albums which was a huge task but I'm so glad I did it. I love the idea of looking back on them with my children or grandchildren(!) As for "taking better photos", I am still working on that one!

So what does 2014 have in store? Holidays to Florida and Sorrento. A mini trip back to Woodhall Spa for my 29th birthday in February. Hopefully there will be lots of fun with friends, old and new. Family time. Crafting. More reading. More trips to the cinema. More quality time with Jonathan. I will get to grips with my camera. See McBusted live! And try to work on my work-life balance a bit more. But hopefully it will be a great year!

Happy New Year everyone x
